San Francisco Bay Area, CA Trip- May, 2009

I went on a 3 day herping trip to the San Francisco Bay Area last May and found a few cool herps. We spent most of the time in Briones Park, which is a very good place to go herping and has both dry and wet areas in it. I am not 100% sure of all of the ID's, so please tell me if any of them are wrong.

Our first herp:

Western Fence Lizard (Sceloporus occidentalis)

By far my favorite herp of the trip:

This guy was just sitting out in the open next to a log pile.

California Kingsnake (Lampropeltis getula)

I flipped this cool, California Slender Salamander (Batrachoseps attenautus) under a rotten log.
Another California Slender Salamander flipped under another rotten log:

I found three Ringneck Snakes under one log. Here Are two of them:

This is the 3rd:

Some more pics of them:

We even went to an Oakland A’s game when they played the Arizona Diamondbacks (ironically while we were looking for snakes).

Another California Kingsnake flipped under tin along the side of the road:

A Northern Pacific Rattlesnake (Crotalus oreganus oreganus) in the hole. Sorry about the terrible picture, but it dissapeared into the hole before I could get any closer. You can barely make out the keeled scales & the rattle if you blow it up.

A Gopher Snake (Pituophis catenifer catenifer) that crossed the road right in front of us during the day:

He tried to go down this hole, but apparently the hole was too small, so he came back out
